Permissions: Private Projects and User Access
The Mentions Dashboard for Jira is designed with user privacy and project security in mind. One of the most important features of our add-on is that it respects all Jira permissions. This means that if a user doesn’t have access to a specific project, they will not see comments or mentions from that project in their dashboard.
How It Works
The add-on automatically checks the permissions for each Jira user. You don’t need to worry about configuring any extra settings. If a user doesn’t have permission to view a private project, Mentions Dashboard for Jira will not display any comments, mentions, or other details from that project.
No Extra Steps Required
There's no need for any manual setup. This is how the add-on works by design. It automatically follows Jira’s permissions model, ensuring that users only see what they have access to.
Example:
Private Project A: Only certain users can access this project.
Public Project B: Open to all users.
If User X only has access to Public Project B, they won’t see any comments or mentions from Private Project A on their dashboard. The system ensures complete isolation of private data, even when using the Mentions Dashboard.
Peace of Mind
You can rest assured knowing that your sensitive information and private project data remain secure. Our add-on never bypasses Jira’s built-in permission settings. If you don’t have access to a project, the add-on won’t show any information related to that project.
In short: The add-on works seamlessly for each Jira user. Don't worry, it won’t display comments from private project(s) you don’t have access to. It's all automatic, keeping your data secure and your privacy intact.
