Process Template entities overview

A Process Template is a set of Steps with forms, checklists, and instructions users can set for further assignment and approval. Create a template for each recurring process to automate workflows across teams and departments, in seconds.

The Process Template includes such entities:

  • Step is a new Jira issue with the form inside.
Through the step settings in BPM, you can set the type of Jira issue and the project where it will be created, set the Assignee, etc. To learn more, you can follow this page - Step Settings.
Also, you need to fill the Step with different form elements. It will help to make your Step more meaningful and collect more helpful information from the issue Assignee. Read more in the Form elements section.

Step creates issues in selected Project.

By default, submitted form data saves inside the issue it has been added to.

  • Conditional step is a kind of step that is used in the case of Form logic when you need to create one more issue for Assignee after it chooses a certain item in form elements with the ability to choose (dropdown, multi-choice, radio button, and checkbox). But it is still the same as the usual Step, just for a different kind of use. Read more about how it works in the Conditional step settings section.

Conditional step create issues linked to main step.

  • Approver is a kind of setup for a certain step that is used when you need to require sign-off of a Step. It has its own different kinds of settings. Read more about it in the Approver settings section.

Approver doesn't create any issues. Add-on reassign selected issue to Approver and show form with Approve/Reject buttons.

  • Group is a logical combination of steps. It groups the actions by the same meaning for the convenient creation of a template.

Groups don't create any issues.
