Template Restrictions

Template restrictions refer to limitations that are placed on templates to regulate the way they can be used, edited, and viewed. There are 2 options for restrictions:

  • Anyone can view and edit

  • Only specific people can view and edit - however, users without access can still manually start the process.

Instruction on how to set Template Restrictions

  1. Go to Templates, hover over the needed Process, and click on the Lock icon.

  2. By default, anyone can edit and view all templates. To set up a restriction on the template select option Only specific people can view and edit and choose from the list of individual users or groups who will see and edit the template. Once limited resection is selected - other people can’t open to view or edit the template, they only see that the template exists and its owner.

  3. When you add restrictions to the process, a Lock icon will be shown on the process line in the Grid.

  4. Once Template has received a restriction, all subsequent Processes will be available only to those who have access.

When you restrict a template, the creator and Jira admins group become the owners of the template.

Be careful. All people you give permissions can edit templates, add other people and delete existing users.
