Let's look at different examples of calculating and displaying these formats.

Minutes

The usual format calculates the time in minutes.

Знімок екрана 2024-06-19 о 09.02.21.png

HoursMinutes

A format is calculated and presented in the form 0h 0m.

If the 'Feedback review task in Status In Progress has a value of 3085 minutes, it is 51h 25m in HoursMinutes format.

Знімок екрана 2024-06-19 о 09.02.56.png

Hours:Minutes

The same as in the previous case, but without the letter designations following the numbers - 00:00.

If the 'Feedback review task in Status In Progress has a value of 3085 minutes, it is 51:25 in Hours:Minutes format.

DaysHoursMinutes

In this case, all values are calculated and presented as 0d 0h 0m.
That is, it is known that there are 24 hours in a day, and if a particular task was in In Progress status for 51 hours and 25 minutes, then in this format, this value will be equal to 2d 3h 25m.

Decimal Weeks

Let's recall what fractions are to understand how this and other decimal formats work.

How To Calculate Days To Weeks:

To convert days to weeks, multiply your days by 0.1428571429. The formula would look like this:

Yweek = Xday * 0.1428571429

Using this simple example, we understand that if a week with 7 days is conditionally taken as 1, then the share of 1 day in a week is approximately 0.14.

Decimal Days

To convert the time duration of 51 hours 25 minutes into decimal days, you can use the following formula:

Let's apply this formula to the given time duration:

image-20240104-135218.png

So, the time duration of 51 hours 25 minutes is approximately 2.1424 decimal days.

Decimal Hours

Decimal hours express time in a decimal format rather than the traditional hours, minutes, and seconds format. In this system, a day is divided into 24 hours, just like in the traditional system. However, each hour is divided into 100 decimal minutes, and each decimal minute is divided into 100 decimal seconds.

For example, in decimal hours:

1 hour is equal to 1.00

30 minutes is equal to 0.50 (half of an hour)

15 minutes is equal to 0.25 (a quarter of an hour)

45 minutes is equal to 0.75 (three-quarters of an hour)

This format is sometimes used in business and timekeeping for simplicity in calculations. It allows for easier addition and subtraction of time values, especially when dealing with fractions of an hour.

To convert 51 hours 25 minutes to decimal hours, you can use the following formula:

Decimal Hours = Hours + (Minutes / 60)

For 51 hours and 25 minutes:

Decimal Hours = 51 + (25 / 60)

Decimal Hours = 51 + 0.4166 (rounded to four decimal places)

Decimal Hours ≈ 51.4166

So, 51 hours 25 minutes equal 51.42 decimal hours.

Business DaysHoursMinutes

For example, you have a work calendar configured like this:

image-20240104-140029.png

That is, if one regular calendar day is 24 hours. And according to this working calendar, one business day equals 8 hours.

image-20240104-140637.png

Business Decimal Days

If your business working day is 8 hours, you can represent the business day in decimal form by dividing the number of hours worked by the total number of hours in a day (24 hours). In this case:

Substituting the values:

image-20240102-140708.png

So, in this case, your business decimal day would be approximately 0.33, representing one-third of a day.

In the Decimal Days section, we considered the case of calculation:

The time duration of 83 hours 34 minutes is approximately 3.48 decimal days.

These same 3.48 decimal days in the Business Decimal Day format will be equal to

3.48/0,33 ≈ 10.54

Business Decimal Weeks

In the Decimal Weeks section, we calculated that in the generally accepted concept of 1 week = 7 days, 1 decimal day equals 0.14.

If the working week according to the working calendar is 5 days, then 1 day is conventional:

1 (working week) / 5 (number of working days) = 0.2

12.72 Business Decimal Days * 0.2 = 102.57 Business Decimal Weeks
