This guide is aimed to provide you with the knowledge to switch to the chart, understand its components, customize intervals, and interpret the data effectively. Use this knowledge to make informed decisions and drive better project outcomes.
1. Accessing the Histogram Chart
1.1 Locate and click on the chart icon in the switcher panel.
2. Understanding the Histogram Chart
2.1 Automatic Formation of Histogram (Single Status Group)
When only one status group is created for your project, the histogram will be automatically generated to display the issue distribution over time.
2.2 Selecting a Status Group (Multiple Status Groups)
If your project contains multiple status groups, follow these steps to select a specific one:
Utilize the dropdown menu provided to choose the desired status group.
2. The histogram will load with data specific to the selected status group.
2.3 Key Elements of the Histogram Chart
The histogram chart comprises the following components:
Issue Distribution: It visually represents the number of issues within different time intervals.
Average Line: An average line indicates the average time of the issues in the selected status group.
Default Bins: By default, the histogram is divided into 7 bins, each representing a distinct time interval.
3. Customizing the Histogram Chart
3.1 Adjusting Intervals
Tailoring the intervals to suit your analysis needs can be done through the Intervals dropdown menu. Consider the following customization options:
Bin Width: Specifies the maximum number of bins (up to 50).
Underflow Value: Establishes the endpoint of the leftmost bin.
Overflow Value: Determines the starting point of the rightmost bin.
To apply the made changes, press Enter or click outside the opened dropdown.
Note: Value Restrictions
The underflow value should not exceed the overflow value.
The overflow value must not surpass the maximum value of the status group (sample).
3.2 Default Interval Calculation
By default, the intervals are calculated as the difference between the overflow and underflow values, divided by 5. This ensures a balanced representation of the data.
4. Interpreting the Histogram Chart
To accurately interpret the data presented in the histogram chart, follow these guidelines:
Each bin represents the count of issues within a specific time interval.
The x-axis displays the time intervals.
The y-axis represents the count of issues in each interval.
