How to update Jira's apps

We strive to ensure our users benefit from the latest updates and features. Without regular updates, your apps might miss out on valuable enhancements and fixes introduced in newer versions.

Why Updating Apps is Important

We release updates independently of Atlassian application updates. These updates may include new features, performance improvements, and critical fixes. We will notify you when updates are available for your installed SaaSJet apps. Only versions compatible with your current application will be shown.

How to Update Your Apps

You can update apps individually, all at once, or even manually by file upload. Here's how:

Updating a Single App

1. Log in to your Atlassian with administrative privileges.

2. Navigate to Apps → Manage your apps from the top menu.

3. From the dropdown (defaulted to "User-installed"), select Update Available.

4. Locate the app you want to update and click Update.

5. The latest version will download and apply. Once completed, you’ll see a success message.

Updating All Apps at Once

1. Log in to your Atlassian application with administrative privileges.

2. Navigate to Apps → Manage apps from the top menu.

3. From the dropdown, select Action required.

4. Click Update All.

5. All eligible apps will be updated automatically.

Note: Some apps may not be updated automatically if they are now paid but were initially free or if your license does not cover the new version.

Updating via File Upload

If you prefer manual updates, you can upload a JAR file for the new app version:

1. Log in to your Atlassian application with administrative privileges.

2. Navigate to Apps → Manage apps.

3. Select Upload app.

4. Upload the JAR file, or provide a URL to the updated version.

5. The new version will replace the outdated one.

If you encounter issues during manual updates, ensure the version identifier is correctly incremented in the app descriptor, or contact the app developer for support.

Enabling Automatic Updates

For a seamless experience, you can enable automatic updates:

1. Log in with administrative privileges.

2. Go to Apps → Manage apps.

3. Click Settings at the bottom of the page.

4. Enable Automatically Update Atlassian-Selected Apps and click Apply.

This option ensures eligible apps are updated automatically, logs the updates in the audit log, and generates a notification for admins.
