Atlassian will soon make a change, replacing epic-link with parent.
This will partially affect the Time in Status app as well:
unsaved reports based on the filter option.
presets.
shared reports.
saved gadgets.
Why will it affect, and how will you prepare?
You may already have saved filters in Jira and JQL that use the epic function.
The app cannot correctly extract data if presets, gadgets, shared reports, or unsaved reports were created based on these filters or JQLs.
To reflect these updates, Atlassian is making small changes to JQL functions. The parent JQL function will be extended to incorporate the functionality of the epic link, parent link, and parentEpic functions.
While these functions will continue to work in your existing JQL searches, you’ll no longer be able to use them in new searches. Instead, teams should begin using the parent JQL function.
Most saved searches and JQL queries (including JQL-backed boards) will continue to show the same results when this update rolls out – you won’t need to do anything to prepare.
In some cases, however, the results of JQL queries that include the parent JQL function may show more results than previously. This may impact your existing saved filters if you’re using:
parent is empty
parent is not empty
parent = xyz
parent != xyz
parent in (xyz, abc)
parent not in (xyz, abc)
This update will only affect issues in company-managed projects. Issues in team-managed projects will not be affected.

✅ It is important to note that when you select Epic data extraction in the Time in Status app's default functionality, data extraction will be performed correctly.
